It started with its very first product of applying ceramic technology of Zeolites for sustained release of iodine for wound care, thus proving to be of great help in more effective healing of the chronic diabetic foot ulcers. At SMS, the Product Development R&D team is constantly exploring application of new and innovative technologies as varied as from ceramics to biopolymers for improving healing methods for different wounds ranging from chronic diabetic ulcers and bed sores to halting bleeding in case of sharp open wounds from accidents to internal bleeding during surgeries to burn wounds etc.

In Oncology, SMS supports the special drive initiated by the Govt of India for cervical cancer diagnosis and treatment. SMS is developing an LBC solution (Cervisol) that is used for ensuring stability and preservation of the sample from collection to analysis and beyond.

SMS has a Clean Room Facility of ISO-7 standards dust free, that is used for manufacturing medical devices of upto Class C (by CDSCO). This is one of the few facilities of this Class sophistication available in Hyderabad, India. This facility can be used for manufacture of a variety of medical devices and also for batch production trials for R&D purposes.
