Sripath Medical systems Pvt Ltd has worked on this problem and has developed a few products under the family name of “HeamSeal” to help stop bleeding from any external wound/injury, Heam meaning Blood and Seal to mean stop.
HeamSeal product is a biopolymer application that helps in quick clotting of blood oozing out from external wounds/injuries etc. This biopolymer called chitosan is derived from sea shells. This is used primarily for external wounds.
HeamSeal Granules sachet contains a powder that can be directly applied on the wound to help in stopping of the bleeding. These granules also have iodine as a disinfectant that helps in the wound healing.
Heamseal Gel is also available where it is a larger wound and gel application is favored by the nurse.
HeamSeal pad: Many a times, after surgery, some bleeding continues on the surface. These HeamSeal pads have been designed to be convenient to the patient/nurse to hold in the hand and apply wherever there is continued bleeding (even after the stitches).
HeamSeal Gauze: This is most useful and popular of the Heamseal products and is strongly recommended to be kept as part of the first aid kit in vehicles, factories, offices and homes. This should be a must for people going on adventure/picnics. This gauze can be immediately applied on the bleeding wound and bandaged. HeamSeal has the property to accelerate blood clot formation and stop bleeding. It also has iodine that helps in disinfecting the wound area and accelerate healing.
